We do not claim to know all the answers to the question "Why were we created?", however we would like to direct our readers toward the biblical account of creation, which we believe to be truth.
The design of our planet, the universe, people, animals and all nature, goes far beyond any of our complete understanding. Many have tried, and still try to remove a designer (God) from the equation, however, even if you remove God, you will still end up with many unanswered questions about our origins. It really takes either blind faith or complete ignorance to believe that the complexity that abounds in this creation did not have a designer. It makes logical sense for us to believe that a Supreme Being, far beyond our capabilities, could have designed our great universe. It is rather illogical to believe that this wondrous creation could just occur on its own by chance, as is taught in Evolutionary and Big Bang theories.
Many admit that there may be a designer or a god, but resist the possibility that it is the God of the Bible. This could be a reasonable approach, however it is our supposition that God did indeed give us scripture, via the books of the Bible to learn and understand the purpose of our lives. If the founders of our country, our Presidents, and most of our country's leaders acknowledge God, and acknowledge the Bible as the source of truth, we should at least place some serious weight in that. Also, knowing that the Bible is by far the most printed book of all time, and that our calendar was reset at Jesus Christ, we should pursue our knowledge of creation with the possibility of biblical truth.
We do not ask anyone to believe with blind faith, but rather that you keep an open mind to the distinct possibility that the information about our creation and our destination found in the Bible is true. We must remember that the Bible is not just a book that we made up, it is verifiable, historical scriptures, that have been used for thousands of years. The church has combined these scriptures into one easily accessible book. We believe that it was evolutionary teaching that has caused people to move away from reading the Bible. At one time reading scripture was a normal daily process, however, as a society we have drifted gradually away from it over the past century.
Why would God create us? We believe that God designed us to participate in a loving relationship with Him and also with each other. It is most evident from our observations in life, and from the Bible, that God made us for the purpose of community fellowship and not just as a random experiment. Our primary relationship should be with God and our secondary relationship is with our people. The two greatest commandments that Jesus gives are "Love God" and "Love your Neighbor." All other commandments hang on these.
What happened to our relationship with God? It appears from biblical observation that we started off in a very good relationship with our Creator. In the beginning, there was no death or suffering. We were to live forever in fellowship with God. The Bible indicates that through one man (Adam), death entered the world. The bible also tells us that another man (Christ) defeated death and will completely remove it from the world. We will live with God in a new Heaven and new earth forever, with no death or suffering.
What happened to our relationship with each other? Because we chose death, and disobedience to our Creator, the result has been a gradually worsening society. The very fact that we endure hardships and eventually die is why we can only relate to each other now on a superficial level. God originally designed us to live forever in a peaceful creation. That creation was instantaneously transformed when, through Adam, we rebelled against God. Biblical study shows that God will also instantaneously (not millions of years) transform the Heavens and the earth into an incorruptible paradise, where we will live forever with God. Christ Jesus will redeem us and all of creation.
We were Created for the Kingdom of Heaven! Our initial state at creation was living in a paradise with God, which could have been forever if we listened to God. Our final destination is living in a paradise with God, which will be forever. The forever part of the equation comes by the removal of all that is against God. Jesus demonstrated to us that we can overcome death if we believe in Him, who was raised from the dead. We believe that God is patiently using this time period (between creation and the the new earth) to develop our character (heart, mind, body, soul and spirit) affording us the opportunity to desire an existence with Him. He is also building our faith and giving us ample time to tell others about the Salvation of God.
